Greg Barrett is a self‐taught photographer and filmmaker who, after seven years in New York City, recently returned to Australia with his family to live, and work.

His favourite subjects include people in movement — dancers, musicians, actors, children, the famous and infamous. He particularly enjoys the challenge of photographing subjects who are uncomfortable with the business of being photographed.

He is the author of several books on dance and the performing arts, including tutu, published by Allen & Unwin.

Greg’s work forms part of the permanent collections of the National Library and National Portrait Gallery in Canberra, and his photography — seen as a reference point for the possibilities of what the human body can achieve in non‐verbal expression — is widely collected.
