The Sterling Affair

Definitely the best of the series in my opinion. The main characters now feel like old friends, the balance between the actual story and the story of Morton’s quest to uncover it was perfect, and Cold War espionage is a subject of lifelong interest to me. Well constructed and well paced, with some good plot twists, too.

I do think this installment, more than some of the earlier ones, will be more enjoyable to readers already familiar with Morton’s family background than those just coming to the series; however I expect most new readers will start with earlier books anyway.
