When I started reading (listening to) this book, I found the prose and story interesting, and I really enjoyed it. At the end, however, I was struck with the idea that I had no idea what the entire point of the book was, and I stopped really caring for any of the characters or their activities :-(. Not caring for the story or the characters was the general feeling of all, in my book club, although I didn't dislike the book is much as most.
As was pointed out by one of the book club members that it's possible that we were not the intended or targeted audience (we are generally late middle-age), but none of us could relate to any of the characters or actions. The question of whether or not it was properly classed as a mystery sort of befuddles me – well, the thought that it could …
