Jordyn reviewed On the yard by Malcolm Braly
Review of 'On the yard' on 'GoodReads'
4 stars
While offering an unflinching (and, I would argue, essentially bleak) view of humanity, On the Yard also manages to be tender and humorous at the same time. The characters are three-dimensional and their motivations are understandable. The net effect is dark, profound, yet very enjoyable to read.
Ultimately, I was left with a feeling that life outside of prison differs from life inside it only in degree, not substance or quality.
