Review of 'Rethinking Anarchy' on 'Goodreads'

A short and accessible read. What I appreciated most was Taibo's frank engagement with classical anarchist thinkers, different anarchist tendencies, and past anarchist formations and practices, noting both the contributions and flaws of each.

However, there was not much that felt "rethought" about anarchism in this book. Despite coming out in 2018, it felt rather dated. In both the proposals put forward and critiques of the state, capitalism, et. al., there wasn't much that seemed particularly new. At the theoretical level it was light and overly general. The absence of any discussion on race, migration, anti-colonial struggle, or queer and trans liberation, and a lot of time spent discussing anarcho-syndicalism made the book feel out of sync with the current moment.
