"Beautiful and feisty Henrietta Barrett has never followed the dictates of society. She manages her elderly guardian's estate, prefers to wear breeches rather than dresses, and answers to the unlikely name of Henry. But when her guardian passes away, her beloved home falls into the hands of a distant cousin. William Dunford, London's most elusive bachelor, is stunned to learn that he's inherited property, a title... and a ward bent on making his first visit his last. Henry is determined to continue running the Cornwall estate without help from the handsome new lord, but Dunford is just as sure he can change things... starting with his wild young ward. But turning Henry into a lady makes her not only the darling of the town, but an irresistible attraction to the man who thought he could never be tempted"--Publisher's description.

Easily the best of Quinn's first trilogy, which isn't saying all that much, really. Could have been much better if she'd bothered to commit or do anything interesting with Henry's tomboyish, breeches-wearing ways instead of just sort of lukewarmly having her be insecure about her ability to perform femininity, especially since she didn't really start in on that heavily until AFTER Henry had already thoroughly proven her ability to perform femininity to the standard of the ton.

Then the final conflict between Henry and Dunford was very tacked-on and fairly contrived. It felt like she got 80% into the book, realized that the whole ward issue wasn't much of one and the hero and heroine were already in love, knew everything about each other, and were engaged so... quick gotta do something for the last 20%! Uh uh uh a tragic misunderstanding about infidelity and whether they really love each …
