Review of 'A hologram for the king' on 'Goodreads'

I always want to like Eggers's books more than I do, and I especially wanted to like this sad-sack protagonist, with his reek of failure and performance issues, but I ultimately could not believe in the prior success that made his decline tragic, nor could I entirely accept the metaphor Eggers wanted all of it to be for the West's experience in the Middle East.
