Review of 'The Twits' on 'Goodreads'

My 4-yo's reaction when we finished: "Wow, that Mr. Twit is really yucky."

He's right, of course. That's the point of the book. Yucky characters doing yucky things looking yucky acting yucky and getting their comeuppance.

His favorite part was when three boys, stuck all night in a dead tree - pants glued to a branch meant to trap birds for Mr. Twit's bird pie - escape the enraged Mr. Twit, who was really looking forward to eating those birds they scared away and had decided instead to eat them, by slipping off their pants running away bare-assed.

This is a short book with lots of drawings but it's hard to read anything by Dahl in light of what I've discovered about the man himself.
