It's a story about art and the hardships artists have when trying to live only doing what they want and this is more and more difficult with each year that pass. This book also teaches us about marriage and the differences between an european and a persian culture, it was really nice to learn and think about the marriages done for 3 months, and renewed if the man was happy with the "performance" and realising that some things don't ever change, they're just called other names through time.
