Review of 'The Invisible Girls' on 'Goodreads'
I don't read a lot of nonfiction, but picked this up. The author's voice is compelling—I started it on Friday evening and finished in on Saturday. SHe describes her treatment for aggressive cancer in her 20s, and befriending and supporting a family of Somali girls. She herself was raised in a fundamentalist religion that called for submission by women, and sees the parallels between her life and the young Somali mother and her daughters.
