As other reviewers have said - this should have been a long essay. I was enjoying the history of the filibuster, but then it turned into a lot of detail about Reid and McConnell. Biographical snippets about senators. It felt like filler to flesh it out. And I’m no fan of the GOP or McConnell but I do appreciate a little more of an attempt at nuance than I got here.

I do think I’m sold on getting rid of the filibuster. He pointed out that the GOP can happily obstruct legislation and make their voters happy. The progressive end needs to pass legislation to meet its goals. So the filibuster is especially effective for the GOP. I hadn’t thought of that framing before.
