Guilty half-pleasure. Definitely casually misogynistic as adventure novels by men tend to be, and I'm also pretty sure the green aliens are supposed to be an allegory for indigenous people. But the adventure aspect is okay.
I wish Dejah Thoris were closer to the Disney movie version to be honest.
