I normally love Ellen Datlow's books. She has a gift for collecting interesting and memorable stories. However, this collection fell a little flat for me. I expected a little more from established writers like [a:Laird Barron|466494|Laird Barron|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1446325324p2/466494.jpg], [a:Ramsey Campbell|18253|Ramsey Campbell|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1206546639p2/18253.jpg], and [a:Catherynne M. Valente|338705|Catherynne M. Valente|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1220999852p2/338705.jpg]. There's just something missing from the stories - a spark, a flavor, something to make them memorable. They just did not make much of an impression on me.
I have another book by Datlow - [b:The Doll Collection|22238188|The Doll Collection|Ellen Datlow|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1412064823s/22238188.jpg|41612064] - and I hope it's better than this.
