Disclaimer, I received an ARC (Advance Reading Copy) of this book because I know one of the authors. I don’t believe this has overly influenced my opinion of the book.
My opinion is that this is a great book, well worth reading. I was a little concerned at first, because I’m not always a huge fan of “grimdark” settings, and this is very much a noir sci-fi setting, but it manages to avoid some of the tropes that most bug me about those settings. There is violence and murder, but only one incident where I recall it getting graphic, and that was in service to the plot, not for gratuitous reasons. There is also no non-consensual sex.
What there is is a great missing person action/detective story featuring a unique pair of investigators. I can’t say much more than that without getting into spoilers. I can say that the authors …
