Captivating, a true pageturner. I found it soothing to encounter an unambiguously relatable, sympathetic, main character. Perhaps sometimes the tongue has been planted too firmly in cheek; time will tell if that will appear dated and gimmicky, or will keep working once a few years have gone by.
This is very much a young adult novel, skating the highs and lows of sex, abusive relations, existential angst, and somewhat burdened by the heavyhanded freudianism that so deeply permeates US culture.
I couldn’t stop reading and felt satisfied when done. I’m all fo that.
