Review of 'Everything Sad Is Untrue : (a True Story)' on 'Goodreads'
4 stars
Could have been a 5 star but it’s a bit rambly, and reminiscent of earlier books that I think did a better job, but I have to give points for a book that so expertly describes the immigrant/refugee experience in all its harrowing, gut-wrenching, and heart breaking detail while maintaining a sense of humor aimed perfectly at the younger audience the book is written for. I can see myself recommending this book for anyone wanting a more challenging book for a middle reader, especially since it relates an experience that all citizens of the world need to be aware of.
