Life in a city can be atomizing, isolating. And it certainly is for William G. and Neaera H., the strangers at the center of Russell Hoban's surprisingly heartwarming novel Turtle Diary.
A gorgeous story with some surprising humour. Highly enjoyable read.
This is a short novel in which two people stuck in their ways decide to release the turtles from the London Zoo, and find their lives changed by that act. Short but thoughtful and set in a recognisable London even if it is 1975.
