With this first book in The Aspect-Emperor Trilogy, Bakker returns to the world he created for the Prince of Nothing , giving readers a story filled with action, treachery, grand passion, and meticulous detail. Two thousand years have passed since the No-God walked the earth, and Anasûrimbor Kellhus has seized absolute power and the role of the Aspect- Emperor by promising to prevent the No-God's return. Can Kellhus keep his word, or has the end already begun?

Review of 'The judging eye' on 'Goodreads'

I still can't help comparing this series to Dune. and this time were in Dune Messiah with the problems of managing the Empire and the Jihad. A demon possessed child (Alia).

Most of the book is a long slog, but there is a great payoff at the end when they have to fight their way out of the Mines of Moriia.

There are still some pearls of wisdom dotted throughout the book but they are few and far between.

Review of 'The judging eye' on 'Goodreads'

A strong follow-up to Bakker's Prince of Nothing series, continuing the tale of those characters. It features one of my favorite dungeon-crawls since Tolkien's heroes fled through the Mines of Moria. If you've read the earlier books, then you really shouldn't need my word to convince you to pick up this one, and if you haven't, well, you should get on that.
