I liked the cover and I was in the mood for a Christmas mystery to read while traveling via train, so this book seemed perfect.
It ended up being a strange mix of various topics and narratives, which range from the silly and almost non-sensical to the really dark and profoundly serious. The writing style is fact paced and rather bubbly, though at times almost distractingly so.

Moreover there was very little connecting it to Christmas. Seeing as the title is "Murder on the Christmas Express", I thought it would center a bit more around the holiday and pick up on some of its themes, which unfortunately ended up not being case – there definitely were some, but they felt rather superficial and could have easily been swapped to accommodate a different holiday / event. The book was still an entertaining read and had some parts that were genuinely intriguing and captivating, but at least for me there was always an underlying feeling of confusion and topical incoherence.
