There was way more violence in this book than necessary! I like and read mysteries a lot, but they don't need to be full of torture and violence. It took away from the story itself, which was actually pretty good. And I'm not a prude! I just don't think that details of torture need to be spelled out in that way. The characters were good, but they would have been better if they hadn't been overblown with the violence.
