Ok. First of all, this book is gorgeous. Gorgeous cover, gorgeous prose, and a plot that just freaking wallops you. It's hard to put down, but also so intense that I kept putting it down then picking it up thirty seconds later, drawn like a bee to the blackest center of a flower.
I loved the main character, Ro, and really identified with her, which upped the stakes for me considerably. But what absolutely killed me about this book was how continuously unexpected it was. Even when I guessed things correctly, when I pulled the pieces together, I still craved certain outcomes. I was just as infatuated with this story as Ro was with Ash. And just as blinded.
This is a stunning little book that does not do what you expect, even when it kinda, sorta does. It left me breathless.
