Das war mein erster Agatha-Christie-Roman (glaube ich), es kam mir passend für meine Situation (mittelalte Frau an altmodischem Urlaubsort) vor, mal einen zu lesen. Hercule Poirot war mir ganz sympathisch, aber das Innenleben von Figuren wird wie bei Christopher Isherwood durch weiß werdende Knöchel und errötende Ohren und so weiter dargestellt, alle 734 Personen sind tatverdächtig und es passiert unmäßig komplizierter Blödsinn mit adeligen Erbinnen. Ich habe mich nicht gelangweilt, möchte aber auch kein zweites Buch von Christie lesen.

I really wanted to read this book.

Many of the other reviews go into depth about the good and the bad of it.

I generally give books where I have to skip pages due to romance very low scores, if I review at all. At least in this one, it is only a few pages.

I did catch a few typos.

There is too much confusion. The reader doesn't get to fully understand what the character knows, or is afraid of. Several times, it is almost on the tip of her memory. Perhaps, it is mostly blocked from her memory.

There are many unanswered questions. How can her brother be in a permanent position in the society at age seven, and yet, a 17 year old is not old enough to be allowed in a relationship? That's not biologically sound. At what age are they allowed in a relationship? And …
