This is the third time which I have gotten halfway through this book and cannot finish it. Steven Brust is a great writer and this is a very well written book, but that's the problem with me. I find the characters to be unbearably childish. Now, I think that this was the correct way to portray the characters, so that's not the problem. The problem is that they're way too annoying for me and I just cannot go through this book without getting annoyed at how stupid the characters are being.

A truly original take on Creation, from a semi-Biblical viewpoint - in other words, it's an imaginative take on Genesis from a very skewed angle indeed. This book has the honor of being the one I've loaned out most often AND the one that has failed to be returned to me most often. As a result I've had to buy many copies.

I no longer loan it out, of course.
