My first book by this prolific non-fiction author. A great read if you're interested in one of America's most disastrous floods.

The writing was agreed to have been excellent. But the interest level in the subject matter varied somewhat. It did bring to mind other disasters, such as Katrina, or the recent tsunami, or Chernobyl, now 25 years past. And also the age of robber barons, the concentrations of wealth the likes of which we are seeing again.
