I liked this book even more than I thought I would. The narrator did a good job and my knowing how it would end didn't hurt my enjoyment.

Over the course of two days, Odd Thomas, his soulmate Stormy Llewellyn, and an assortment of allies make their way through a dark, terrifying world in which past and present, and life and death collide as they try to avert a cataclysm.

Well. This book had all the elements of an intriguing story, but Odd Thomas himself fell flat for me. It wasn't until the end that I found him interesting, and even then he rebounded too quickly. "I am at peace"? No freaking way... I'm not compelled to give the sequels a try.
Some people really hate this book or series of books, but for me it's one of my favourites by Dean Koontz. In Odd Thomas he has created one of his best characters, Odd is quite a lovable person and easy to cheer on in times of stress.
The plot in this book is good, a sort of detective story as Odd tries to figure out what disaster is about to hit. There are some creepy black shadow people that are gathering for the event and it becomes a race against time to ruin their day. And Odd also sees ghosts, they are either wanting help, murdered victims, or just hanging around, Elvis. The ending of the book is brilliant and might be one of the reasons people hate it so much.
