The Innocent Mage is the first book in the Kingmaker, Kingbreaker fantasy series written by Australian author Karen Miller.
I've stopped reading this after about half an hour (audiobook). Too boring, too bland, to ... blah. Maybe later. Someday.
My sister in law gave me this book for Christmas, along with the second part in the series. I have now finished the first one of them and I'm very much looking forward to reading the second half!
What a cliff-hanger!
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. The main character, Asher, has plenty of flaws, but he's still difficult not to like.
I've read a different series (Godspeaker, very recommended) by Karen Miller before and was impressed by the world building in that one. It made me want to read more by her, and I believe that if I had read this one first, I would have had the same experience.
