I liked the beginning at the nunnery but as soon as Artemisia left the covenant early on, I kind of lost interest because the book became quite stereotypical.

Well I’m a little disappointed. I’m not sure I think this book has quite the same whimsical, magical, unique quality I’ve come to expect from Rogerson. In fact it reads like a few other popular YA books. Extra star because the voice of one character in particular is fun and reminiscent of what I liked about her earlier books, but I think I’ll have to wait for the sequel to decide if it’s something I can recommend to others.
