Cheri reviewed Behind the Scenes by Karelia Stetz-Waters
Review of 'Behind the Scenes' on 'Storygraph'
4 stars
Another enjoyable, angsty, funny read by Karelia Stetz-Waters. However, I didn't love it as much as previous reads.
I loved the sexual dysfunction aspect. That was really interesting and not something I see much of in our genre. Stetz-Waters always does a fantastic job of making her characters real and deep. The humor was spot on, also. Loved the family and secondary characters.
So what was my issue that made this a 4 star instead of a 5 star read? It was mostly the Cherry Covered Apron arc. By itself, it was fine but the way it linked the characters was too much for me to believe. It might not be a big deal but it made the entire story less believable. It's hard to put words to how I felt - I'm not a professional writer - but I hope you understand what I'm getting at.
I'm still feeling like, right now, Stetz-Waters is my favorite romance author. I just love her voice and style. It's not often that I can binge three books in a row by the same author and still love them.
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for letting me continue my love affair with the author's books.
