technicat reviewed Religion by Jonas Atlas
there is an interesting book about religion buried inside this book about how people are wrong about religion
I just got through the first one or two myths that the author is attempting to debunk, and while the discussion and examples of various religions around the world that he cites to make his case are really interesting, he kind of ruins it by wedging all that into a simplistic argument. Like, it's a myth that religions are run top-down, look at all this bottom up activity, it's really like how companies operate. It reminds me of my friends who like to just pick a point to argue for the sake of arguing as it apparently has some entertainment value for them, but I can't return my friends to the library, and this book was eventually due after I let it linger.
