When a time-travel lab suddenly cancels assignments for no apparent reason and switches around everyone's schedules, time-traveling historians Michael, Merope, and Polly find themselves in World War II, facing air raids, blackouts, unexploded bombs, dive-bombing Stukas, rationing, shrapnel, V-1s, and two of the most incorrigible children in all of history--to say nothing of a growing feeling that not only their assignments but the war and history itself are spiraling out of control.

I'll have a detailed review of this when I finish [b:All Clear|7519231|All Clear (All Clear, #2)|Connie Willis|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1320549311l/7519231.SY75.jpg|9735628] since this is somewhat of an incomplete story, or just the first half of a novel.

The most disappointing thing about this book is how the author obviously did so much more research to write this book than any of the historian characters did before going back in time. I just couldn't believe that a culture advanced enough to invent time travel and which values history enough to want to send people back to key events to better document them would do such an incredibly bad job preparing those people to live in the past. The second most disappointing thing is the book is not a complete story and in fact it ends just as it seems to finally be getting interesting.
