Queering The Shop Around the Corner
This story was so well written, incorporating a thoroughly modern way of communicating through the written word. Yet, it was not simply the written word. The characters Ileana and Rhodes were sweet and lovable even as they exposed themselves at their worst to one another. The characters with whom they interacted with in school to drive the story were well rounded enough to understand their motivations. The imperfect adults were less so, as they would be to real life teens. The cartoon illustrations were exquisite. What a lovely book.
