Review of 'Talent Is Overrated' on 'Goodreads'

3 stars

The main idea of that book is that the two "main" hypotheses that explain worldclass success, i.e. "innate talent" and "hard work" are, generally speaking, not verified. Instead, they hold the opinion that what makes the difference is "deliberate practice" - practice that is designed to improve, that can be repeated a lot, where instant feedback is available. It is also highly demanding - and not that fun.
They explain how this applies to several "personal" examples (of high performing people), and they talk about how to apply those principles to a company (that part interested me the least) and to kids education.
All in all, an interesting read, definitely gives some food for thought, but maybe a bit long/verbose for the total amount of content.
