vin_aigre reviewed A Briefer History of Time by Stephen Hawking

I personally think that this book is unnecessary given the existence of its predecessor A brief history of time. But maybe for some, “briefer” is better. However, the material Hawking is meddling with is not easy-to-grasp material. It cannot be simplified beyond a certain extent. Just like there is a rock-bottom for the uncertainty principle, just like matter is undividable beyond a certain limit, the science in this book must not be distilled because it renders the content heavily concentrated. My mind kept zigzagging reading this book despite the fact I have read all the books that lead up to it. In addition, nothing stood out about this work. The role-of-God question, the narrating, the black holes , the 1-witty-sentence-per-chapter… Nothing stood out and I remain disappointed. I expected more, much more.
