Review of 'RETURN OF THE DANCING MASTER; TRANS. BY LAURIE THOMPSON' on 'Goodreads'
4 stars
My first Henning Mankell - it's pretty good, really. Mankell sets up some interesting twists and writerly challenges that I can't go into without spoilers. His 'reveals' come early for a mystery of this type but they set up the story in interesting ways rather than cause half a book of dénouement.
I think I'll read Mankell again. I deliberately avoided Wallender mysteries so as not to be sucked into a series, but reviews tell me I should at least consider them.
