Saga, Volume 7 (dupe)

i wish i was a newer romance reader when i read this - i think i could have liked it. however that + the amount of hype i saw about this book on tiktok definitely gave me high expectations, and i don't think this book quite met those marks. 

i also wish the pacing was a little faster, especially because it feels like the secrets and insecurities drag on without much movement for most of the book, which isn't my favorite thing in romance novels. there's barely any time for the rupture and repair, and i wish they had gotten more book time to work through a resolution.

I had major issues with the believability of this book, and the development of the plotline. How could the hero/heroine pine for each other for over 7 years despite actually interacting once (and even that was limited)? He says he loves her almost immediately (and she acts like she does, too). But why does he want her? He knows almost nothing about her, and she clearly rejects him multiple times. There’s something to be said about determination, but this is just kind of pathetic. In addition to the fact that if she wasn’t into him, that would be creepy and borderline stalker-like.

Maybe I could have overlooked all my problems listed above, if I liked the people. But I had a hard time connecting with either main character, or with their relationship (which seemed based off of semi-forbidden love …
