在California Zephyr 上开始读，趁着三番的旅行正式读完这本有关LA读书馆失火，找不到犯罪嫌疑人的事件。以一个嫌疑人的个人经历为线索展开，穿插着笔者对图书馆不同部门员工的跟踪采访展开描述图书馆的变化。同时还科普了一些之前不知道的知识，bookbinder的职业，是真的会有人打电话去reference department询问关注点特别有趣的问题。科普向书籍，会安利给有兴趣了解LA或者图书馆的伙伴们。
Patron call asking whether it is necessary to rise if National Anthem is played on radio or television. Explained that one need only do what is natural and unforced; for instance, one does not rise while bathing, eating, or playing cards.

On the surface this book is about the 1986 Los Angeles Central Library fire, but more than that, this is a love letter to libraries in general and the vital services they perform for the public. As someone who fairly recently re-discovered the joys of libraries, I cannot recommend this book more.
