This year’s (1139 CE) St. Peter’s Fair is a bother: the town wants a cut of the profits, spies intrigue for and against King Steven, thefts with varying degrees of violence, and all those dead bodies.

Yet another interesting and enjoyable mystery by Ellis Peters. I marvel at the breadth of her language and history knowledge, not to mention her depth of understanding 12th century politics of the British Isles and France. Brother Cadfael is wonderful and humble, as always.
