This was an unsettling read. Keeps you wondering what really is going on as the main character Ruth is elderly and slipping mentally. Then a woman comes to Ruth's home claiming to be sent by the government and immediately you are on edge. This left me feeling very sad and concerned because Ruth can be any of us some day in the future, alone and vulnerable. It's a blessing to be the spouse who dies first...
