Well, that's over now. Much of this volume is spent giving characters a final few scenes, some of which land better than others. The main arc fizzles out in a way which makes the last few volumes seem ultimately pointless.

Taking a broader look at the series, it really only works well up to the end of the gepetto arc, with the obvious exception of cubs in toy land. He's managed to make it seem like he had some grand plan in place, but ultimately it feels like he really was making it up as he went along. The whole thing has a red state feel, lots of American exceptionalism, small c conservatism and libertarian morality informing the characters actions. While this is an interesting change from much of the media I prefer, I can't say that I feel like I'm missing out on much.
