The Nature of Fragile Things

Very compelling — I couldn’t put it down.

This book opened with a lot of good ingredients: a mail-order bride, a child who wouldn't speak, the San Francisco earthquake of 1906. And I was intrigued for about 50% of the book, until revelation lead to revelation and the "villain" had no redeeming qualities.
