I thoroughly enjoyed learning more about Scott Joplin as I've enjoyed learning his ragtime on the piano and loved the style. So historically very valuable. I also quite liked the idea of his ghost visiting Phoenix as she was becoming a famous singer, and could finally give voice to the music he never was able to due to the amount of racism in the day, lack of funding /finances, and his deteriorating health. What I didn't enjoy so much was the fairy descriptive sex scenes, particularly the final one when Phoenix was unconscious in a coma pretty much, being stuck in her mind with Scott, and Carlos, whilst asking what he should do, essentially had sex with her very cold and lifeless body. I get it, it was meant to and did bring her back to consciousness, but that whole scene was just too uncomfortable and close to rape and …
