pithypants reviewed Secret Daughter by Shilpi Somaya Gowda
Review of 'Secret Daughter' on 'Goodreads'
5 stars
As a debut, this novel was rock solid. It's the story of a girl born to poor parents in India, who is given up for adoption. The book then weaves together the story of her life in America with that of her birth parents back in India.
The author did a great job capturing aspects of the Indian culture that I wasn't familiar with, so this is a good read for armchair travelers. And because of the questions the characters struggle to answer, I think this would be a great book club book.
