Having never read the first book in this series I didn't know what to expect, we like Julia Donaldson's other books so we decided to give this a go. My daughter really enjoyed it, the story is funny, the rhyming is good and she loved looking for the ladybird on each page. For me though I couldn't help compare it to the Gruffalo books and have a different illustrator takes something from the book, a real shame but it still gets 4*s.
