In Allison Sekemoto's world, there is one rule left: Blood calls to blood

She has done the unthinkable: died so that she might continue to live. Cast out of Eden and separated from the boy she dared to love, Allie will follow the call of blood to save her creator, Kanin, from the psychotic vampire Sarren. But when the trail leads to Allie's birthplace in New Covington, what Allie finds there will change the world forever—and possibly end human and vampire existence.

Oh My God!!! Julie Kagawa, you play with my emotions! I hate the cliff hangers SO MUCH! My reaction toward the end of the book: media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lz9oq8Qk6j1qhpa0b.gif But the story was gripping and action-packed as well as emotional. And man, she definitely takes readers on an emotional roller coaster. Just read the second book. You won't regret it because it's worth it. I mean the beginning of the book is kind of slow, but then when the story starts rolling, it literally blows you away with all the things happening. Just mentally prepare yourself for the surprising turns the plot takes in the book. It'll be agony until the third book comes out, but knowing how good Julie's writing is, it is DEFINITELY worth the wait.

When she finds herself following her instincts to Washington DC, she finds herself faced with an old foe and begrudgingly coming to an agreement to work together to find Kanin as well as the cure for rabidism. If it even exists.

I absolutely love this series. Whilst the world from the first book was still imprinted on my mind, I had forgotten who was who, so the recaps in the first few chapters were helpful. I am often annoyed with info-dumps but these were spread out and, well, I needed them. I was soon sucked back into Allie’s story. In …
