The endearing and humorous duo from the memes is back, this time to solve the case of Obama’s missing BlackBerry in crime-ridden Chicago. Shaffer again perfectly captures the folksy, bumbling, big-hearted, and tenacious qualities of the former VP, as they exist in public imagination, anyway. His bestie Barack Obama, with his cool confidence and talent for showing up at just the right time, is the perfect foil, and Obama’s poor Secret Service agent Steve, whose loyalty is genuine and tinged with exasperation, completes a fantastic trio, even if they give him the slip every now and then. I lost track of the number of times I laughed out loud while reading this book, in spite of its occasional slips into ridiculousness.
