I received this book in print form from a Goodreads giveaway. I actually listened to it as an audiobook, as that's my preferred mode these days, and will reread it in print soon. In any event, winning the book did not influence my listening or my opinion.
I'm a big fan of the author's work and have read pretty much all her books, most more than once. I don't rate them all 5 stars (I'm trying to be stingy with that number), but this book gets a 4.5 so it shows up as a 5.
I like competent heroes and heroines, and more so heroes who see and appreciate the heroine's abilities and smarts. That is used to great effect in this book. And the whole theme of a collection of competent women was well done.

I think the writing was some of MacLean's best here. And the audio narration was top notch and made the "read" all the more enjoyable.
