Hamilton brings us back to the Void without repeating himself.

The late 19th century politics are a bit old.
But I guess it's because I'm 40 now. My late teen self would have reveled in the revolutionary ideas and dynamics.
Hamilton's writing thrives when there is an enemy at the gates, and in the Abyss Beyond Dreams the enemies are both local and galactic.
