Pin must sew all day for a wicked godmother. Her role is written, one day she will be Cinderella and marry a prince. As the fairy tale narratives, under the guidance of the mercurial Godmother, try to force her into a role, she navigates conflicting romantic feelings and fights to find her mother's legacy. What made this book special is that it has a bit more critical thinking than your average YA fantasy-romance. The oppression of those who make Princesses and Princes, the gender roles and the suggestion that happiness is creating your own narrative are good points. This book was recommended to me by a 7th grade student, and I am glad I took her up on it.
