Given that my response to that cover is "That's an F-18 you **" you may imagine that I have a certain deep-rooted reaction to flying novels. Well, I do. But what to say about this novel? I read this in my teens when I was already on the way to learning to fly and it covered several bases for me as well as being a straightforward tale of the guy who has everything (looks, talent, money) being brought low and having to work it all out. Of course there is a parallel between Israel and South Africa and it isn't just a Mirage. I wonder what that was all about.
These days, one of my best mates is Dave Morgan, but he is into canal boats and beer. A good bloke.

it could at least have been an F-15, which the IDF/AF do use. Then the cover would have been literally true if misleading.
