Jayp reviewed Parallax by Alan W. Hirshfeld
Great popular science book
5 stars
Parallax is a fascinating and well written history of the people who dedicated their lives to measuring the distance of stars, and the technological development required to finally do so after two millennia of trying.
Unlike many popular science books, Hirshfeld does not waste the readers time with filler material. Every page is full of well sourced information documenting the twist and turns of astronomical development that should be easily accessible for those without any scientific training or knowledge of the history of astronomy. Highly recommend for anyone who is interested in science and history.
